Hello FAS athletes and fans and welcome to a very special post from the Flight Action Sports Official Blog. Today we have some amazing news that we are very excited to share with all of you!
As you well know, FAS is dedicated to providing the absolute best in competitive and casual sports in San Diego County. From Flag football, to basketball, to volleyball, we do the best we can to create a fun, welcoming, and sports driven atmosphere for all of our athletes and fans. However, we also strongly believe in taking care of and giving back to our community. Especially to those who have made sacrifices to ensure our safety and protect our freedoms. With that in mind, we are very proud now to announce Flight Action Sports is now partnering with the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF)!
Now what is the Challenged Athletes Foundation, you might ask? Well they do a ton of great work in
the community through a ton of different programs, but who better to tell you than the CAF themselves:
“It is the mission of the Challenged Athletes Foundation to provide opportunities and support to people with physical disabilities so they can pursue active lifestyles through physical fitness and competitive athletics. The Challenged Athletes Foundation believes that involvement in sports at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence and enhances quality of life.”
A pretty good organization if I do say so myself. But that’s not all. The Challenged Athletes Foundation, a 501 (C) 3 non-profit organization, manages a program called “Operation Rebound.” Focused on helping those who protect us and our freedoms, Operation Rebound is:
“the premier sports and fitness program for American military personnel, veterans, and first responders with permanent physical disabilities. It provides unparalleled opportunities to pursue active, athletic lifestyles by offering access to funding for equipment and training and competition expenses, Military Medical Center Physical Training (MMCPT) and sports clinics.”
If that’s not a great non-profit organization, I don’t know what is. Created in 1997, the Challenged Athletes Foundation was originally begun to help one paralyzed athlete in a triathlon. From such a simple desire, CAF continued to grow and evolve into the respected, honorable organization it has become today. Their services now reach thousands, ensuring physically challenged athletes all have the same freedom to enjoy sports as everyone else. It is a consistent fact that 80% of every dollar donated to CAF goes directly to these awesome programs and the military personnel, veterans, and first responders they support.
So it just made sense to us, who better than them to partner with than Flight Action Sports? Though we are still hammering out the specifics of how our two families are going to be working together, I know everyone here at Flight Action Sports is very excited to explore this partnership further and reap the benefits it will provide for our military personnel, veterans, and first responders, as well as our FAS athletes and fans!
